How to Complain to (or Compliment) Metro-North ... and Get Results

STEP 1: USE THE OFFICIAL METRO-NORTH "COMPLAINTS" PAGE

http://mta-nyc.custhelp.com/app/ask

BE SPECIFIC: Give specific details about your situation: date, time, location, train / car number, names of employees. General statements like “the trains are always late / crowded / dirty” don’t give the railroad the information they need to address specific problems.

ASK FOR A RESPONSE: Ask Metro-North to reply to your specific comments and ask what they will do to bring needed changes.

FOLLOW UP: If the only response you get is a form letter, reply and ask for more details. Tell the railroad and lawmakers you are a customer and voter and want more than lip-service.

STEP 2: COPY YOUR LAWMAKERS

Find your lawmakers using the links below for your state:

CONNECTICUT RESIDENTS

NEW YORK RESIDENTS

Your State Representative and Senator, your US Congressman and Senators have the power of the purse over Connecticut Dept of Transportation and Metro-North. Summarize the comments you just filed to Metro-North, and ask your lawmakers to pressure those agencies for change. Tell them that a quality commute is important to you and you will vote for those that deliver it.

STEP 3: GO PUBLIC!

Post your comments on Twitter addressed to @MetroNorth and @CTRailCommuters

FOR BEST RESULTS...

BE PERSISTENT:  If the problem continues, complain again and let them know they haven’t fixed the problem.

ENLIST SUPPORT: Get your fellow commuters and colleagues to also comment. An individual comment may be ignored but dozens can’t be.
